Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations including distance and near visual acuity assessment
• Conduct objective and subjective refraction and prescribe corrective spectacle lenses
• Carry out slit-lamp biomicroscopy, fundus examination with indirect ophthalmoscope, and applanation tonometry
• Screen patients for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts
• Provide low vision assessment and recommend appropriate optical or non-optical assistive devices
• Fit, dispense, and counsel patients on contact lens selection, insertion, removal, and hygiene
• Conduct pre-operative biometry for cataract surgery and post-operative vision rehabilitation
• Perform automated visual field testing (perimetry) and assist in interpreting results for the ophthalmologist
• Maintain accurate clinical records, referral letters, and patient follow-up schedules

Qualifications & Requirements

B.Optom or B.Sc. in Optometry from a recognised institution; registration with the State Optometry / Allied Health Professions Council where applicable. Experience in a hospital eye department or standalone eye clinic is preferred.
