A recognised autonomous medical institution affiliated to the State University of Health Sciences located in Kolkata is seeking a dynamic Associate Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, clinical training facilities, and an active research programme.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive lectures, small-group tutorials, and practical sessions for MBBS and postgraduate students in Orthopaedic Surgery
- Develop and update curriculum content, case-based teaching modules, and simulation exercises for the department
- Design, conduct, and evaluate formative and summative assessments including theory papers, practicals, and OSCEs
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate residents, dissertation work, and thesis submissions
- Maintain teaching records, attendance, and departmental academic activity logs as per NMC requirements
- Participate in curriculum committee meetings, faculty development programmes, and institutional accreditation processes
- Conduct clinical case demonstrations, bedside teaching, and ward-based learning sessions
- Contribute to the development of e-learning content, question banks, and skill labs
Clinical Duties
- Provide expert clinical care in the affiliated teaching hospital's OPD, IPD, and emergency services
- Participate in clinical ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Perform specialty-specific procedures and supervise residents in clinical skill development
- Manage departmental specialty clinics and ensure evidence-based patient care protocols
Research & Academic Contribution
- Engage in original research and publish findings in indexed, peer-reviewed journals
- Apply for research grants from ICMR, DST, DBT, and other funding bodies
- Guide postgraduate students in research methodology, data collection, and analysis
- Present research work at national and international medical conferences
- Participate in institutional ethics committee discussions and research collaborations
Qualifications Required
MD / MS / DNB with at least 5 years teaching experience (including 2 years as Assistant Professor) as per current NMC regulations for academic posts in Indian medical colleges.
