Position Overview:
Operating Imaging Equipment: X-Ray Technicians are responsible for operating and maintaining X-ray machines and other imaging equipment, such as computed tomography (CT) scanners or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. They ensure that the equipment is in proper working condition, adjust settings as required, and position patients correctly to obtain the necessary images.
Patient Care and Safety: X-Ray Technicians prioritize patient care and safety during imaging procedures. They explain the imaging process to patients, answer any questions or concerns, and ensure their comfort and cooperation during the examination. They also follow strict safety protocols to protect patients, themselves, and other healthcare professionals from unnecessary radiation exposure.
Positioning and Image Capture: X-Ray Technicians position patients correctly to obtain the desired images. They may need to adjust patients' positions, use immobilization devices, or give clear instructions to ensure accurate and high-quality images. They operate the equipment to capture the images and assess the quality to determine if any additional images are needed.
Image Processing and Reporting: After capturing the images, X-Ray Technicians process and analyze them to ensure their clarity and diagnostic value. They may use computer software to enhance or manipulate the images as required. They also prepare reports or summaries of the imaging findings, highlighting any abnormalities or significant observations, and collaborate with radiologists to interpret the images accurately.
Record-Keeping and Documentation: X-Ray Technicians maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, imaging procedures performed, and any relevant observations or findings. They ensure proper documentation and labeling of images for easy retrieval and future reference.
Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control: X-Ray Technicians are responsible for the regular maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of imaging equipment to ensure its optimal performance. They also perform quality control checks to ensure that the equipment meets the necessary standards and produces high-quality images.
