Emergency Care: Administer immediate medical treatment to stabilize patients, including resuscitation, trauma management, and other interventions as necessary. Perform procedures like suturing wounds, splinting fractures, and inserting intravenous lines.
Diagnosis and Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments, take medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause of the patient's condition. Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans based on the diagnosis, considering factors like patient allergies, comorbidities, and medication interactions.
Coordination with Specialists: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, specialists, nurses, and technicians, to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients. Facilitate timely consultations and referrals to specialists when necessary.
Emergency Medical Procedures: Perform emergency medical procedures like intubation, chest tube insertion, central line placement, and rapid sequence induction, as required in critical cases.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete medical records of all patients treated in the emergency department. Document the initial assessment, treatment provided, response to treatment, and any subsequent interventions.
Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with information about their condition, treatment options, and potential outcomes. Educate them on preventive measures and safety precautions to minimize future risks.
Emergency Preparedness: Participate in disaster preparedness plans and emergency response protocols. Stay updated on the latest advancements and guidelines in emergency medicine through continuous medical education.
